Choosing tutoring: a guide for parents
Use the student’s learning needs, curriculum and deadlines to choose a suitable starting point.
Begin with the problem, not the number of hours
A low mark does not by itself explain what a student needs. Before choosing a timetable, collect a recent exercise, the student’s attempt and the teacher’s feedback. Is the difficulty an earlier foundation, the current chapter, applying an understood method, or preparing for a nearby exam? The academy’s initial assessment is intended to help identify these priorities.
Compare the available formats

Check group compatibility
At Andre Nacouzi Academy, groups include 2–4 students in the same grade with a compatible curriculum or academic track. A similar age is not enough: students may be working on different chapters or need different foundations. Group placement is confirmed after assessment.
Keep the budget and learning plan connected
The website lists private hourly rates by grade and monthly group fees based on the group size and weekly hours. Ask which work will be prioritised and how progress will be followed before selecting a timetable. More scheduled hours are not a substitute for a clear learning objective.
Prepare five details
- The student’s grade and curriculum.
- The specific subject and current chapter.
- One piece of recent schoolwork or test feedback.
- The deadline, if there is an upcoming exam.
- The preferred branch or online format and available times.
Review the next priorities
Progress is followed through practice and assessments so the learning plan can be refined. Keep track of which kinds of exercises the student can now explain and complete, and bring recurring difficulties to the next discussion.
